I'm studying how hydroponic plants impact ammonia.
All photosynthesizing organisms - autrotrophs - such as plants and algae use the nitrogen in ammonia (NH3), to produce their proteins.
Therefore, If there are more hydroponic plants in the fish tank, then the level of ammonia will be lower also, because
plants use the nitrogen in ammonia to produce their proteins.
PROCEDURES.
MEASURE AMMONIA.
AMMONIA DATA TABLE/GRAPH/ LAST YEAR. (now, and change once plants are put in)
At the moment, we have no plants in our fish tank. The ammonia level is currently at 0.
As the fish grow larger, and their excretion increases, the ammonia level will rise. When necessary, we will place the chosen hydroponic plants at the top of the tank to moderate the amount of ammonia in the water.
